About The Method #
The method provides a suite of tools to support river professionals in their work on Biodiversity Net Gain:
- MoRPh5 - a field survey to characterise a short subreach of 50-250 m. Field surveys may be repeated to cover the upstream and downstream extent around a proposed development.
- River Typing - a desk study to characterise the larger river and determine the potential for uplift.
- River Condition Class - a set of calculations based on the above that produce a single objective value for input into the Statutory Metric
- Scenarios - a methodology for testing out different interventions to see which have the potential for producing the desired uplift
