River Condition Assessment

The River Condition Assessment (RCA) is a multi-scale method developed by Cartographer Studios for assessing the condition of rivers, streams and canals.

The RCA is an integral part of Defra’s Statutory Biodiversity Metric  and the calculation of Biodiversity Net Gain . We are the training provider for the method. We also supply software tools to support its application.

The method also has a wider application as a tool to guide river monitoring, assessment, restoration design, and other management.
